Reflection from prior lesson:
I am coming into this as a support/team lesson. I will focus on the actual paper to make it an
effective paper. As well I will be helping certain students who Miss Miles believes need a little
more of my assistance than others.
Lesson Goal(s) / Standards:

Lesson Objectives: The students are going to be writing an effective paper on D.A.R.E.
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to complete the paper with an attention getter,
3 paragraphs that hold the body and a conclusion
Materials Needed:
SmartBoard, pencil, paper

A. The Lesson
1. Introduction
2. Content Delivery
1) A paper should consist of an introduction, a body and a conclusion.
2) To start have an idea of what you are going to write about.
i) D.A.R.E.
3) Then 3 supporting ideas that you will write about in the body
i) What I learned during D.A.R.E.
ii) How I have used the D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model
iii) How I plan to use what I have learned to make safe and responsible choices
4) The introduction should an attention getter that captures the reader.
i) D.A.R.E. has opened my eyes.
ii) D.A.R.E. has changed me.
iii) D.A.R.E. was a fun and awesome opportunity.
5) In the body, write about the 3 supporting ideas. Each paragraph should have specific
details, examples, and how you plan on using these skills.

6) Conclusion should summarize your thoughts and ideas that were stated in the
introduction and body. This would a good place to make a personal statement as well.
