The view on Feminism
The author starts off the article by pointing out these women raising up a sign saying that
they dont need feminism. The author, Emily, points out the criticism of feminism as inane,
unintelligent, and useless (Shire). The article discussed how a women posted that feminism isnt
needed because men and women are equal and how deeply misinterpreted feminism is. The
author went on to reach out the organization, Women Against Feminism to share their story and
motives and declined and said the photos already speak for themselves. The authors claim was
that Women Against Feminism is completely on what feminism really is. I do know for a fact for
myself that feminism gets a bad rep and that many look at the movement in a negative way. In
my view people view feminism as very anti men and liberal. The author claimed that the
movement has to be engaging and accessible but I would have to say that it would not be for a
very long time. I would have to say to that claim that many people have a distorted view of
feminism and it would be a challenge for people who are narrow minded and really show them
what the movement really is about, I dont blame those people and at the same time its very
saddening. I agree on what the author says about the Women Against Feminism organization
being used as a wakeup call on how poorly misunderstood the movement is. People nowadays
like to see the fault in many things and Feminism has been something controversial for a while,
no matter what, people will always have something bad to say. As the author says, the movement
should be engaging and accessible but I feel as if no matter what, people are going to pick out
flaws. People are people, they can be judgmental. As far as the feminism movement goes, we can

try to get more of what feminism really is out there but no matter what, it will receive criticism
and they are already stereotypes of feminism. I wouldnt think the authors claim as the
movement being engaging in order to be really effective I would say it would have to make an
extreme outbreak and really make it big and out there to the point that its everywhere where
women in the movement speak on what the whole feminism movement is really about and show
things that many people dont know that everyone and I mean everyone, even men can be
feminist, a housewife can be a feminist, literally anyone can be a feminist but unfortunately
people have that negative view feminism ingrained in many peoples minds. I have to disagree
on the authors claim of the movement having to be engaging for it to be effective, I would think
people would have to be more informed than engaged on what the movement really is about. The
movement I would say is to really make big moves, controversial perhaps, catch peoples
attention and let the people know what feminism really is about. When I think on what the author
said about movement having to be engaging, I feel its saying to try to please people. Pleasing
people is out of the question, people are always going to have something bad to say on whatever
happens. People part of the movement have to get people more informed. Really make it big and
show the truth on what movement is about, make a whole controversy about it and let people
who dont really see on the truth.
