Ecosystem Creation

By: Alec and Jens

Species - Tertiary Consumer

Dragon
Attributes: Weighs 4 tons, 20 ft. tall, breathes fire, can
fly up to 50 mph
Population Size: 15
Range: 10 sq miles each
Human Usefulness: None
Location: Northern Canada
Biotic Factors:

Species - Secondary Consumer

Wolf

Attributes: Weighs 100-150 lbs, 6 ft. long, very acute

eyesight and smell, sharp teeth and claws

Population Size: 10,000 - 12,000

Range: Each pack of about 8 wolves roams an area up to 10

sq miles

Human Usefulness: Can be trained and domesticated, often

used for hunting

Location: Northern Canada

Biotic Factors:

Species - Primary Consumer

Bison

Attributes: Weighs around 1 ton, and 7-8 feet tall, has

metal horns, easily adapts to weather changes by
shedding, three tails used to intimidate

Population Size: 3,000-4,000

Range: 6-10 miles each (often roam in herds of 40)

Human Usefulness: Hunted for hide and horns,

domesticated Bison are used in many agricultural
businesses

Location: Northern Canada

Species- Producer

Rawst Berry Shrub

Attributes: Fully grown shrubs are 4-8 feet tall, with pink rawst
berries grown underneath the leaves. Berries grow underneath to
protect from harsh winter weather

Population Size: 45,000-75,000

Range: All over Canada

Human Usefulness: Lumber, food, leaves provide many helpful

ingredients used in science

Location: All over Canada

Eats: Sun (Photosynthesis)

Created Species - Decomposer

Ambulashrooms
Name stands for Walking Mushrooms
Attributes: Walks on two legs, can live in any environment,
large mouth and eyes, petals can detect dead organisms
Population Size: 5,000-7000
Range: Up to 3 miles each (Commonly found in clusters of
up to 100)
Human Usefulness: Petals can be used for medicine
Location Northern Canada

Ecosystem- Hyperborean
Location and Description
Located in Northern Canada, all organisms located
within the ecosystem thrive on cold weather. The
Hyperborean and its surrounding area contains two
forests, one mountain range, and over 3,000 lakes.
The temperature stays below zero degrees Celsius
and the climate changes rarely. If the temperature
were to change, the ecosystem as a whole would be
drastically affected.

Food Chain

Competition
Predator/Prey Relationship
Bison = prey
Wolf and Dragon = predator

Interspecific Competition
Both dragons and wolves compete for a similar resource (bison)

Altercation and Effect

Bison are over hunted by humans and their population decreases
to less than 1,000
The bison are now in the endangered category and in risk of becoming extinct.
The wolf population will decrease because the bison are their only prey.
Wolves have a high specificity (very specific food requirements)
The dragon population will not be affected as bad because they rely on
organisms other than the bison for food. (low specificity)
The rawst berry shrubs will grow in size due to less bison eating the berries
and seeds.

Plan
To fix altercation
1. Stop over hunting of Bison by creating laws against hunting bison.
2. Begin to raise a number of Bison in captivity to ensure the prevention of full
extinction
3. Reintroduce them into the wild

Effect on other animals

Dragon: not highly affected because they have multiple food sources
Wolf: Population will grow in numbers as the Bison does (predator/prey
