1. The areas of two similar triangles ABC and PQR are in the ratio 9 : 16, If BC = 4.5 cm.
Find the length of QR.
2. What is the angle between the tangent at a point on a circle and the radius at the
point of contact?
3. A spherical steel ball is melted to make 8 new identical balls. Then the radius of each
new ball is how many times the radius of the original ball?
4. Simplify:

14. (a) Construct a triangle similar to a given triangle ABC, with sides measuring 5 cm,

(b) Draw a circle of radius 6 cm. From a point 10 cm away from its centre, construct
the pair of tangents to the circle.
15. (a) A vessel in the form of a hemispherical bowl is mounted by a hollow cylinder.
The diameter of the hemisphere is 14 cm and the total length of the vessel is 13
cm. Find the surface area of the vessel.
OR
(b) A tent is in the shape of a right circular cylinder surmounted by a cone. The total
height and the diameter of the base are 13.5 m and 28 m respectively. If the
height of the cylindrical portion is 3 m, find the total surface area of the tent.
16. (a) Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite to each other on either sides of
a road, 80 m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of
elevation of the top of the poles are 60 and 30, respectively. Find the height of
the poles and the distances of the point from the poles.
OR
(b) The angle of elevation of an airplane from a point on the ground is 45. After
flying for 18 seconds, the elevation changes to 30. If the airplane is flying at the
height of 2500 metres, find the speed of airplane in km/hour.
