LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
Defined more than 2,500 years ago by Greek philosopher Aristotle, Rhetoric is the faculty of observing in
any given case the available means of persuasion. Therefore, a leader is by default a rhetor because;
he or she must persuade others to follow of their own accord. Consequently, there is no single formula
for becoming a successful leader. Rather, an amalgam of beliefs, experiences, and innate abilities
fashions every leaders philosophical framework.
A good leader is one that begins by leading with authenticity. What this means that my behavior as
well as my stated values must be consistent with my actual values and must be observable. The second
part of my philosophy is starting with the heart, which describes the practice of conceptualizing the
preferred outcome for individuals and the organization as a whole in any given situation and keeping their
best interests in mind. Starting with the heart requires the development of a culture of open and
respectful communication regardless of position in the organization without fear of reprisal. This
encourages cooperation and builds trust among all members of the group. Finally, I would strive to
develop logistical dynamism, or a well-organized and collaborative system that brings specific skills
from each group member together depending on the situation to develop methods for overcoming
barriers, solving problems or promoting the mission of the organization. It is the belief that we are
stronger, smarter and better together than apart and that each member is as valuable as the next.
