The rules for this years Canned Food Drive will run from November 9th to December 11th. Food may
be brought in during this time pending sponsor approval. The Tower of Cans will be on December 11th. Our
primary goal is to collect food for the local community food baskets, and we are trying to do our best to
encourage students to bring a variety of food so the items we donate will be appreciated and enjoyed. Therefore,
points on many items will be based on the number of servings it contains; once a class obtains the requirements
for the bonus, that bonuss value will be added to their total score. Some categories have a group bonus that will
be awarded once all of the bonuses in that group have been met.

Bringing Food:
-Times to bring in food are before 8:15 AM or from 3:15-3:30 PM (to be counted toward that days total). No
food will be brought in during the school day and no exceptions will be made. If you are caught bringing
in food during an unapproved time, you will not be eligible for the group bonus for the
category that the food falls under.
-Food items will be counted after school (any items not present by 3:30 will be counted on the next days total.)
A copy of the daily totals for a given class will be provided to the sponsors during the next school day.
-Special considerations will be made for certain items. The Canned Food Drive director is the only person who
can make such decisions (in consultation with Mrs. Roderick and Mrs. Walser if needed.)
-Ramen noodles will be accepted and will fall under the other pasta category, but will be excluded from the
Tower of Cans.
-All food intended for use in the Tower of Cans must be boxed or canned; no glass or bagged items will be
allowed.
Bonuses:
-Each bonus can only be reached once. After the bonus has been awarded, only points for the products
themselves will be counted.
-Once every item limit in a group has been reached, your class will receive a group bonus.
-There will be two mystery bonuses announced. They will include a meal-in-a-box (ie: Hamburger Helper) and
pancake mix. The class that brings in the highest number of items will earn 1000 bonus points, 2nd place earns
500 points, and 3rd place earns 250 points.
-There will be weekly bonuses. If the following categories are fulfilled by the Thursday (Tuesday of
Thanksgiving week) count of the given week, an extra 1000 points will be awarded in addition to any category
or group bonus.
November 9-12: Pasta
November 16-19: Dry Goods
November 30-December 3: Sauces and Gravy
December 7-10: Cans
Misc. Items:
-All misc. items will count for 1 point per serving, but special considerations will be made (i.e.: peanut
butter/jelly or other high serving size products will count as 5-10 points depending on size.)
Questions:
-Any questions regarding rules should go to the Canned Food Drive director. He or she has the final say
on any conflict within the Canned Food Drive.
-If any issue or question arises that the director cannot answer, all inquiries are to be directed to Mrs. Roderick
or Mrs. Walser.
Rewards:
The overall winning class with the highest point total will receive a pizza party during GTT in January.
Any class reaching all category/group bonuses will receive candy bars for members of the class.
As a school, our goal is to beat last years total number of points: 32, 129. There will be a school wide reward of
a soda float GTT party if this goal is exceeded.
