TESOL 302 LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE

A. Title

B. Learning Objectives & Expected Results:
1. Learners will be able to identify the main idea of the by listening and reading
2. Learners will be able to comprehend the unknown vocabulary words and AWL.
C. Students
The students are age 17-18 year old. Their English proficiency is high advance. They can carry a
daily conversation and ask information but they lack of academic vocabulary.

D. Setting
There are 16 students in the classroom and we meet twice a week for one hour every Tuesday and
Thursday at 12:15pm.There are computer lab and language lab in the school. When it comes to a
language study, the teachers and the students will meet at the language lab. The language lab has 30
computers on each students desk. There is teachers computer as well and all computers in the class are
wired with high speed internet access. There is a projector and white board in front of the class. The
school is an international public school in Indonesia. The learners have variety of ethnic, family, religion
background.

1. Students will watch a short video about second language learners. Open the link

2. After the students watch the video, they will form groups of two or three to discuss about the
video. They will discuss about what they learn from the video and share their experience when
the first time they expose to their target language.(5 minutes)
3. Introduce students to the article California to help students not fluent in English.

minutes and identify the main idea.
4. Student will write a summary in a piece of paper about the reading (5 minutes)
5. Introduce the students to use the AWL highlighter to discuss some academic vocabulary words.

the text/script on the article and paste it on the empty bar of AWL. Students will be able to count

6. Have students test themselves about the AWL vocabulary words by using Gapfill Maker (15
minutes).

8. If there is time, students can talk about the lesson to their neighbor.
9. For students homework, have them list 10 AWL vocabulary words from the article and find their
words family.

F. Reflect
Its fun to use technology, paperless, safe time, and there are variety of activities and games that students
and teachers can use. The Zondle game is a little bit time consuming because this is the first time I use it
for teaching a lesson.
