Part Four: Other Requirements

1. What other requirements must you meet to graduate from this college/university with your
chosen degree? (Testing, Projects, Observation hours, GPA, etc.) You will need a GPA that is a
2.75 or higher and an ACT score of a 22 or higher. The school needs you to complete
Educational leadership, reading, literacy, and some other prerequisites. You need to spend 100
hours observing in a school, get a criminal background check, Completion of coursework, and
mandated reporter training.

2. What options do you have for student teaching at your chosen college/university? Do they
allow you to student teach internationally, in urban or rural areas, or in non-public school? How
long will you have to student teach? What other requirements must be met during the semester
you student teach?
Your placement will vary depending on the availability in Will county,
Kankakee County, Central and north cook, Central and south cook, Du page
county. You will be placed when the school decided to accept you or not. The
time may vary. You will also be interviewed and be expected to dress
professionally while showing enthusiasm for your profession. You need
knowledge in this area, required courses completed, test results, background
check, observation hours, and mandated reporter training

Part Five: Licensure

Please answer the questions below.
1. Which content test will you need to take for your desired major? The state requires you to
complete a Bachelors degree and a general teaching certification test. Such as the Praxis test, as
well as completing content specific test for the subjects you want to teach. A state of national
certification test is required as well.

2. In your own words describe the edTPA process. What will you be required to do to complete
this portion of your license requirement? How are you assessed and what can you do if you are
unsuccessful the first time? It is a standards based test based on your performance in teaching in
different subject areas. It will measure how well you complete skills, activities, or how you can
influence future learning of children. They will see how well the children are learning by the
teaching ability you provide. It is comparable to entry level licensing exams that require
application of the skills in that profession. This focuses on skills and subject matter so that you
can improve on your teaching ability as well.

3. How do you apply for licensure? (Be specific)You need to go thru the application process,
read the licensure instructions, and checklists to locate which license youre applying for. You
can fill it out on paper or online. Send a packet of original test scores and documents for the
department of education to look over and verify. For example, you can fill out a Licensure
application on line and send it to Mississippi department of education.
