Achieving a reduced HO viscosity is one of the important matters in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Therefore, one of the purposes of this study is to investigate and clarify the mechanisms of viscosity reduction of HO using NPs. Experimental effort would try to demonstrate that the amount of viscosity reduction is a function of the concentration of the NPs and, certainly, there exists an optimum concentration of NPs, yields maximum viscosity reduction. Moreover, the viscosity trend versus concentration of the NPs is to be investigated thoroughly. 2. Wettability alteration due Nano-EOR Wettability alteration is one of the most important methods for improving oil recovery from both sandstone and carbonate reservoirs. In the current study, an attention would be focused to screen/shortlist the NPs that serve as a wettability alteration agent and ultimately improve oil recovery for sandstone as well as carbonate reservoir rocks. 3. IFT Modification due Nano-EOR In this study, it is also aimed at to designate the most optimum NPs with suitable concentration for EOR in both low and high-permeability rocks. Both interfacial tension (IFT) and contact angle between various NPs concentrations and crude oil will be measure. 4. Formation damage due Nano-EOR Both permeability and porosity are most likely impaired during drilling and production operations. Especially, as depletion starts this formation damage may be more cumbersome. NPs additives have the ability to alleviate these formation related issues. Therefore, one of the main objectives is to investigate experimentally the most suitable NPs that can alter or reduce formation damage at any stage of production.
