after the undergo a change.
STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THAT AIR IS A SUBSTANCE THAT SURROUNDS US, TAKES UP SPACE,
AND HAS MASS.
STUDENTS COMPARE SOLIDS, LIQUIDS, AND GASSES BASED ON THEIR BASIC PROPERTIES.
STUDENTS SUMMARIZE CHANGES THAT OCCUR TO THE OBSERVABLE PROPERTIES OF
MATERIALS WHEN DIFFERENT DEGREES OF HEAT ARE APPLIED TO THEM, SUCH AS MELTING
ICE OR ICE CREAM, BOILING WATER OR AN EGG, OR FREEZING WATER.

ITOOCH
3RD GRADE SCIENCE

Suggestions for Classroom Applications:

Itooch Elementary School 3rd Grade Science would be a great tool to use as a
review for a test! Students can learn while playing games and earning points
throughout the game.
I would also use Itooch 3rd Grade Science as a reward if students finish an
assignment early they would have the opportunity to play games and take the
practice quizzes as a reward for finishing. This keeps the students busy while
others may still be working.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
Keeps students busy if finished early with other work.
Allows students to be engaged with technology all while learning the material.
A fun way to learn new material, and study for tests!
Cons:
Students may try to "speed" through their assignments in order to "play" on the
app.
Some students may not have Internet access at home.

SCIENCE QUEST

3RD GRADE

Essential Standard 3.G.1

Understand the Earth's patterns by using the 5 themes of
geography: (location, place, human-environment interaction,
movement, and regions.)
Find absolute and relative locations of places within the local community and region.
Compare the human and physical characteristics of places.
Exemplify how people adapt to, change, and protect the environment to meet their needs.
Explain how the movement of goods, people, and ideas impact the community.
Summarize the elements (cultural, demographic, economic, and geographic) that define regions
(community, state, nation, and world).
Compare various regions according to their characteristics.

Google Earth

3rd Grade
Social Studies!

Suggestions for Classroom Applications

Students can use Google Earth to pinpoint different regions that we are
reviewing.
Students can view different areas and compare and contrast the differences in
different regions and areas.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
Google Earth gives students the opportunity to "visit" a certain geographical
region without actually having to go there.
Google Earth makes learning geography more real than simply looking at a
map!
Cons:
Students may get carried away and get off task looking up different areas rather
than the one they should be researching and looking at. In other words, they
may play with Google Earth instead of using it to learn about the region they are
supposed to be learning about.

English Language Arts

Suggestions for Classroom Applications

Vocabulary Spelling City is a great tool to use that allows students to learn
spelling and vocab words.
Students can take tests, practice their words, and still practice their typing skills.
I would use this in my classroom to take spelling and vocabulary tests, and allow
students extra practice with their words.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
Students can take their spelling and vocabulary tests online, and it is
graded immediately.
Graded tests can be printed out and sent home with students so their
parents can view them.
Students are learning spelling and vocabulary words as well as learning to
type!
Cons:
By taking a spelling test online the student-teacher interaction is reduced.
I do not like this about it.

Suggestions for Classroom Applications

This app would be a great way to introduce students to sight words and help
them learn phonics. There are different options where students can work on
sight words, matching the word to the picture, and phonics that the students
are able to practice with.

Pros and Cons

PROS:
Students are able to work on different reading techniques while learning to
incorporate technology.
CONS:
None that I can think of.
