does anyone know how to solve problem #4 ?

i tried to use the distance formula but couldnt get the answer..

Problem #2

to get the slope of the tangent line


we need to get the derivative of y

since the tangent line has the largest slope

generally, this is not true. the second derivative must change sign!

Justify using the derivative test for Absolute Extrema!

problem #4
i think the graph should be ( )
since the problem tells us that the graph is a line segement and is cut off by the
first quadrant.
and the distance between y-intercept and x-intercept of the graph has to be
minimized.

i dont know what i should do next.. :(

First, you could substitute a and b to the equation:

And you could set x and y interepts as

Then you could get the distance formula using two intercepts.
