Christian's part: a revision on the mission as we want to focus on acute stroke research and

health program focusing on geriatric population. we are looking for a high bed turn over to
increase revenue and achieve goals. We can do it by identifying the SWOT
Identified strengths: number of beds, ER number of beds
Identified weakness: no rehab unit, computers need to be replaced, radiology diagnostics not
digitized, 5 units short staffed and absenteeism ( underlying problem could be inappropriate staff
mix, acuity, nurse-patient ratio, over staffing of higher management
Identified threats: 5 % reduction in funding, has not yet put pandemic plan in place
Identified opportunities: number of beds is 500, CVICU is 25 beds, in area of aging population
and affiliation to a nursing home.
Note: SWOT may overlap as some may see weakness as opportunities or vise versa.
* a merging of unit for just one manager is a plan, discharge planning and social work should be
enhanced...the six members are considered the pool of high management planners, we can have
both strategic and operational planning....short and long duaration ( 3 to 10 year plan), and 1
year or less for short...
