TY acre) P25 THE 14" INTERNATIONAL MINERAL PROCESSING Ze SYMPOSIUM PROGRAM October 15-17, 2014 Kusadasi, TURKEY THE 14" INTERNATIONAL MINERAL PROCESSING SYMPOSIUM PROGRAM www.imps2014.0rg Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the Organizing Committee of IMPS 2014 itis my pleasure to weleome you to Kusadasi, Turkey, for the 14" International Mineral Processing Symposium, The theme of this year’s IMPS was selected as “Mineral Processing in Everything’, to emphasize the wide-reaching impact of the field of mineral processing in everyone's daily life. Everything around us relates to science and technology. The fact that institutions world-wide are modernizing and up-dating what they simply once called “Mineral Processing” is testament to the transformation taking place in this science in the 21" Century. The days when the Mineral Processor solely dealt with physical, chemical or physico- chemical preparation and/or separation techniques are long gone. Just as importantly, today's Mineral Processor must be able to carry out research in nanotechnology, be able to deal with environmental issues in detail, understand the properties of the green body which leads to desired ceramic qualities, must be closely familiar with biological systems to design proper drug delivery systems; must be capable of using the bottom-up approach as well as the classical top-down processes to meet the requirements of various industries. In short, today a Mineral Processor must be aware of everything a processing engineer would know, which is a much more in depth knowledge than when the IMPS Symposia first started. The aim of the 14" IMPS Symposium is to reflect this fact by facilitating discussion and high-level scientific exchange between participants coming from academia and industry across Europe and throughout the world We hope the current symposium will contribute to the development of mineral processing and will benefit of li parties concerned iner iPEKOGLU (Symposium Chair) Prof. Dr. NaS ey Kusadas isa resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast and the center of the seaside district of the same name in Aydin Province.
