I am a Winthrop student and was excited to hear about your event and
marketing internship opportunity at the Culture and Heritage Museums. I am
studying integrated marketing communications and I know that I could be a
valuable addition to the organization as well as learn more about my field from
working with you.
My career goals are still broad at the moment, but I would be interested in
working for nonprofit organizations that focus on adding a service that benefits the
community. Social media and guerilla marketing are areas that interest me the
most.
My main interests are in the outdoors. I work as an adventure guide at Camp
Canaan, a local summer camp. Working with a large variety of different groups in an
active environment has been a great experience so far. I also spent a lot of time in
Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia the past two summers and enjoyed it immensely. It is
part of the reason I am so interested in working with your organization.
I have experienced event planning through college courses as well as some
real world experience. During a public relations course, our class put together a
fashion show at a very low cost and earned over $600 towards the IMC awards
banquet. I have also assisted in events at Camp Canaan. Recently I helped run their
information booth at the strawberry festival with the goal of attracting new
business. I also have been involved in their open house programs where I helped
promote the camp to visitors. My experience in marketing has been through my
classes. In the previous semester, I designed an entire ad campaign for Istanbul that
included online, print, and direct mail pieces.
I hope that you will give me the chance to show you what I am capable of in
