Introduction

As the world innovates, we are subject to

many changes. Changes in business, in
society, in technology and most of all
changes in education. Adapting on changes
made by our society may be difficult and
unacceptable. But through those changes,
education is now viewed with new
perspective. New curriculum, new grading
system, new objectives and attainment.

Twelve (12) years of program is found to the

adequate period for learning under basic
education. It is also a standard for
recognition
of students and and/or
professionals abroad. This will be sufficient
to prepare students for work. The k to 12
basic education curriculums will enable
students
to
acquire
Certificate
of
Competency
(COCs)
and
National
Certificates (NCs). This will be in
accordance
with
TESDA
training
regulations.

Rationale
As said by Bro. Armin C. Luistro, No one will be
left behind. It is not just about attaining the
twelve (12) years of education but to be
knowledgeable enough about it. The purpose of
this study is to inform as well as to test on what
level of knowledge the students of Batangas
State University-Rosario have about the new
education program. Through this, we can assess
students understanding about the K-12
education program. We can also be informed
about what improvement we can conceptualize in
the implementation of the said program.

This is also conducted to spread awareness on

what is all about K-12 program and help them
stay informed. This research is also designed
to address diverse learners needs and may be
adapted to fit specific learners group. The
overall purpose of this research is to awaken
students curiosity and to enhance their basic
knowledge of what is the newly implemented
education program.

General Objective
1. To deepen the understanding of
students from Batangas State
University-Rosario about the K to
12 Education Program.

Specific Objectives
1. To evaluate the learning of students from
Batangas State University about the
advantages and disadvantages of K to 12
education program.
2. To analyze the information the students from
Batangas State University-Rosario have
regarding the K to12 program.
3. To determine the number of students that is
well informed of the K to 12 Basic Education
Program.

Discussions and Methodology

Questionnaires were used in

gathering data as a main instrument.
The questionnaire was divided into
two parts to gather the necessary
information to complete the study.

Preparation
The questionnaires were prepared by the
researchers themselves after doing a lot of
research and group brainstorming.
Validation
The first drafted questionnaire was prepared
and showed to the research adviser for
correction. Revision of each item, deleting
irrelative ones and adding information on
items was done. After revisions, second draft
was presented again to the adviser for
comments and suggestions.

Administrations
A request letter for the dean of each department
noted by the adviser was handed. As soon as the
permission was granted, distribution of the
questionnaires will be administered by the
researchers. Then it will be returned to the
researchers properly fulfilled.
Scoring
After the questionnaire was sent back to the
researchers, explanation and interpretations of each
items is made. The respondents were graded
according to the equivalent of their score. The
respondents were scored using and obtaining the
rubrics.

Findings
From the results gathered in the questionnaires distributed
among the students of Batangas State University- Rosario
Campus. We come up with these findings:

Not all students/respondents are well-informed about the K to

12 program.
Respondents information are not enough
Small number of respondents answered the given questions
correctly.
High number of respondents from each department failed to
meet the expected result guided by the given rubrics.
Some of the respondents may have high level of knowledge
but do not focus on answering the questionnaires given.

More than half of our respondents

failed to meet our expectations with
the guided rubrics. Through these
findings, we the researchers have
been enlightened of the things we
can do to enrich students knowledge
about the said problem.

Conclusions

Throughout this research paper entitled Familiarity of

Students from Batangas State University-Rosario about
the K to 12 Program we have concluded different
observations that lead us to have a deeper analysis of
the answers from the presented examination.
After the conducted examination we go further on
the analysis of the results. In the process of analyzing
the answer of the students, we have observe that the
students who are not that familiarize about the K to 12
is of High Percentage. Basic terms and concepts seem
to be so unfamiliar to them. But analyzing the latter
part of the questionnaires which are the advantages
and disadvantages, we have concluded that they were
partly informed and knowledgeable.

As a generalization of our conclusions,

students knowledge from each
course/department of Batangas State
University about the K to 12 education
program were not enough and still need a
deeper, wider and broader scope, focus and
attention

Recommendations

For the teachers. We recommend

conducting seminars for all the students
under the institution for them to gain more
knowledge and have a deeper
internalization of the program for the
students to adapt to changes. Also, we
suggest having an open forum to better
understand and to know more what do the
students need to be able to know more
about the K to 12 education program.

For the curriculum developers and

instructional designers. Since the students
are still in need of more information, we
suggest adding one subject in the curriculum
which will cover the K to 12 program. This will
be used to supply all the information needed
to cope up with the changes which was
brought by the new education program.
Teaching in this additional subject will be in
different approaches so that students will be
interested and they will pay more attention.

For the government. Implementation of

the K to 12 program may be difficult in
many ways. Facilities and materials are
not enough even the vocational teachers
that posses more knowledge. We
recommend to the government to allot
funds for the development of the program.
Also, we suggest building more facilities,
making it available everyday for the
enhancement and application of the skills
and letting it be used as free.
