In this unit, you have studied different stories that are all linked by the theme of respect.

Choose one of the assessment tasks below and write a creative response of
approximately 200-500 words (1-2 sides of handwritten A4).
A Day in the Life of
1. Imagine that you are a character from one of the stories you have studied in class. Write a
diary entry which explores your characters feelings about the events that have taken
place in the story.
2. Imagine that you are one of the Junes, from the story, Tuesday of the Other June.
Following the incidents that occurred in the classroom at the end of the story, write a
reflection to the Principal about what has taken place.
3. Imagine that you are either Margot or William from the story, All Summer in A Day.
Margot has been let out of the closet and it is now the end of that day. Write a diary
entry, which explores your characters feelings about the events that have taken place in
the story.
4. Imagine that you are either Ishaan, Ram Shankar Nikumbh or Ishaans father from
the story, Taare Zameen Par. The Art Fair has ended and it is now later that evening.
Write an internal monologue, in which you reflect on the events that have happened
and what the notion of respect now means to you.
5. Imagine that you are either Bryan, Emily, or the narrator from the story, The School
Yard Bully. Following the incidents on the basketball court, write a reflection to the
Principal about what has taken place. Be sure to discuss the ideas of respect and
responsibility.
