Sport Pedagogy Lesson Plan (Elementary and Middle School)

Background Information

School: Cleveland Elementary

Grade Level: 4th /5th grade

Lesson Focus: Focus of the lesson will be football


kicking

Safety Considerations: Students will be advised to


keep their heads up and be aware of their
surroundings when in limited space. Students will be
told to watch out for other groups who may be
running in the same direction. The teacher will make
sure that there is adequate personal space for each
student during the activities.
Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: Students will be expected Previously Learned Skills: Students have already a

Psychomotor (P): Students will be able to properly perform the cues of the skill for punting a
football 7 out of 10 times
Cognitive (C): Students will be able to explain all the cues with 100% accuracy
Affective (A): Students will be able to support each other through positive feedback or
encouragement after punting the ball
H-R Fitness (H): Students will be engaged in moderate to vigorous physical activity at least
70 percent of the time

Instant Activity: Steal the Bacon


For this activity you will be split
into two teams of 10. Every
person will be assigned a number
between 1-10 and will be given a
scarf to tuck into their pants.
Remember your number. There
will be a cone in the middle. If
your number is called you will
have to try and steal the cone
from the middle and run it back to
your own side of the court
without getting your scarf pulled.
If scarf is pulled before reaching
your side of the court it does not
count. If more than one number is
called both students are on the
same team.
Set Induction:
Hi Tiger Pride! Happy Thursday!
Today we will be working on
football punting. When in football
is the ball kicked/ punted? What
is this position called? (kicker).
Purpose:
Learning how to properly punt a
ball will allow you to be able to
play a full gameplay without any
modifications.
Transition (if necessary):
Students will remain seated until
they are given a group and told to
go to colored poly spot. When
they get there they will line up on
the back poly spot and wait for
further instructions. Teacher will
hand them a ball when they look
ready to begin.
