Term Introduction
Youll cover Chinese Course 1 unit 2 (Lesson 7 to Lesson 12) in this term, includes 20 radicals, 100
new words and characters, and expressions and sentence patterns. You will continue to practice Pinyin
and Chinese tones. Listening and speaking skills are developed through different kinds of activities
such as songs, role-play, games and presentations. The students are exposed to the Chinese language in
class and they will find that learning Chinese is fascinating.

1. No delinquent assignments: No late work will be accepted.
2. No missing test or quizzes: Make-up test or quiz (including dictation and listening
comprehension in class) must be scheduled & completed at the students request within a
week, or else will be marked as a zero.
3. Extra credits: Bonus points may be awarded to tests/quizzes, extraordinary performance, &
extra effort in academic work at the instructors discretion. Everyone is expected & encouraged
to be the best they can be.

Rules and Procedures


As it is my sincere hope to cultivate a classroom environment of mutual respect and consideration. I
wish to now highlight some rules that be strictly and consistently enforced this year. Please pay careful
attention to these and refer back to them throughout the year.

Code of Conduct
1. I will arrive on time, be prepared, and be productive.
2. I will respect others, the environment, and myself.
3. I will do nothing to prevent the teacher from teaching, and anyone, myself included, from
participating in educational endeavors.
4. I will use Chinese as much as possible while in the classroom
5. I will not use electronic devices in the classroom without permission.
--In the case of breaking the rules you have been warned three times, but you still dont follow the
instructors directions. You will lose all you citizenship point and class work point in that class.

Procedures
1. REQUIRED MATERIALS:

Textbook

All class handouts: You MUST keep these in a binder or a notebook

Notebook: For note taking, and other classwork

Pen or pencil: For obvious reasons.


2. ENTERING /EXITING THE CLASSROOM:

Close the door if you are the last person to enter our classroom.

Close the door when you exit our classroom.

Open and close the door gently to avoid distracting others.

Put your homework and hand phone in the baskets on the teachers desk as soon as you
enter our classroom.

Put your backpack on the hook of your chair.

Start the bell work stated on the white board.


3. ASKING QUESTIONS. LEAVING YOUR SEAT. GETTING HELP
Lectures: Raise your hand if you to speak unless we give you permission to do otherwise.
Stay in your assigned seats AT ALL TIMES during class unless you are given permission
to move.
If you need help, raise your hand we will help you.
4. RESTROOM PASSES
You will receive 2 hall passes for Term2
Any additional hall pass use will result in a loss of participation points
Only one student may use the restroom at a time.
No one will use the hall pass during the first 5 minutes of class, or the final 5 minutes of
class. Please take care of your bathroom/water drinking needs between classes.
- If you must use the restroom during the first or last 5 minutes of class you may do so,
but you will lose citizenship points.
- You will receive 2 points extra credit for each week that you do not use a pass.

5. TARDINESS. ABSENCE MAKEUP WORK


You must be in your assigned seat when the bell rings- otherwise you will be marked tardy.
If you are absent, it is still your responsibility to check the class website for homework and
due dates
All assignments must be turned in on time.
5. END OF CLASS DISMISSAL
You may not pack your bags until I give you permission to do so.
You MUST push in your chairs and straighten your desks before you leave.
