POWER POINT OF THE MONTH

Why do we need to know about healing ministry? Nothing beats the ministry that demonstrates the
power of God to heal. Everyone will know that God is alive and His power is real. Experiencing that
tangible power and presence of God can change the heart of people. This is why it is important for
every believer to understand the importance of this ministry.

That is not for me. I am just a layman and have never been to Bible school, some of you might
think. This is a very common misconception many have. This is what the enemy wants to hear from
our mouth. It is a lie from the enemy and we should not believe what they whisper to our ears. You
are saved and called to be extension of Christ on earth to minister and bring restoration to others,
including healing the sick.

How can I heal the sick? Jesus is the model of how we can flow in the ministry of healing. It is
crucial for us to understand how He was able to move in it and demonstrate the power of healing.

Most people would simply conclude that Jesus was able to heal many sick people because He was
God. That statement is only half right. The right part is Jesus is God. However, healing the sick as
God is the wrong part. If we study the Bible carefully we find that Jesus, although He is God, did not
use His divine prerogatives to do the miracles He did. He came to earth as fully man as clearly
mentioned in Philippians 2:5-8. Jesus is God manifested in the flesh.

If Jesus was fully man, where did He get the power to heal from? It was from
the Holy Spirit. The Gospel of Luke presents to us that after Jesus being
baptized by John, the Baptist, suddenly Holy Spirit, in a form of a dove,
came upon Him. Jesus at that moment was empowered by the Holy Spirit!

After Jesus gets filled with the Holy Spirit, He is then launched into the
ministry. Before this event, theres no record Jesus performed any miracle.
To suggest that He performed miracles before His baptism is misleading. He
had never performed any miracle before He received empowerment from

Holy Spirit. Jesus returned to Galilee powerful

in the Spirit. News that He was back spread
through the countryside. He taught in their
meeting places to everyones claim and
pleasure (Luke 4:114-15).

To sum up the ministry Jesus had when He

walked on earth, Acts 10:38 states: And you
know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with
the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went
around doing good and healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Here we learn Jesus relied on the power of Holy

Spirit when He did all the signs and wonders. So
now the next thing we must ask ourselves is,
How does this apply to us as His followers?

If Jesus is our model of ministry, then we ought

to follow Him and the way He did His ministry.
Now we cant say, Its because Jesus did all
those healing as God. He did not. If Jesus
depended on the power of Holy Spirit, then we
ought to do the same. Holy Spirit is now within
us and we also have the same source of power
to heal the sick!

Jesus rely on the power of Holy Spirit to demonstrate

the power of healing.

There is no such thing as junior version of Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we are
also empowered to demonstrate signs and wonders, including healing the sick. As believers we can
heal the sick. We become the channel through which the healing power of Holy Spirit can freely
flows through us.

Theres no such
thing as junior
Holy Spirit. We
all have same
size of Holy
Spirit.

What we need to do next is to activate our faith by approaching

people around us and begin to release that power to the sick. God
is powerful enough to heal the sick. In fact, if the dead can be
raised from dead, what else God cannot heal? What God needs is
point of contact to the sick. God is looking for vessel through which
His power can heal. And those who are willing to be His vessels can
see the manifested power of healing.

The Holy Spirit is now in you and you dont have to be afraid to pray
for the sick. You dont to worry as to whether or not that others will
be healed. Just be the vessel and see how God is going to perform
His wonderful works through you.
