Basketball, West Hills Middle School, 6th-8th grade

- I developed a strong sense of sportsmanship and pride for my team. This was
my first experience participating in a team sport and it prepared me for all

future teams I participated in throughout my education.

One leader of Relay for Life Team, Relay for Life, 6-7h grade
- The Relay for Life allowed me to harness the grief of losing my Grandfather to
Cancer towards a good cause. I was finally able to move on because I knew I
was working to save lives with the money I raised, dedicated to finding a cure

to cancer.
Softball, West Hills Middle School, 7th grade
- This was the second team I was on. I was the first basemen and pitcher. These
two positions taught me how to become a leader and when to step up and
help my team out. I had the power to control the game.
BBYO Jewish Community Center, 8th grade
- BBYO changed my life. I was finally able to connect to my religion in a way I
never thought possible. Before BBYO, I was not very religious at all. I thought
that studying Judaism was boring and a waste of my time. Because of BBYO, I
now realize that it doesnt have to be boring. It can be social and exciting!
Volleyball Maccabi, Jewish Community Center, 8th grade
- This was another opportunity where I was able to connect with my religion and
my ancestors. At Maccabi I played a game I loved, volleyball, while spending
time with my Jewish peers. I was the captain of this team so I showcased my
strong leadership skills. I also made important decisions like when to make
player substitutions and call plays.
Soccer, Bloomfield Hills League, 2007-2009
I
Soccer was interesting. At first it was very challenging for me because of my
asthma. Here, I learned to push through and now I can set my mind to
accomplish anything. After the soccer season ended I ran my best mile. I was
in much better condition and mentally stronger as well.
Softball, Franklin League, 2011-2012
- Franklin League was my second softball team. I joined when I found my love of
softball. I stayed dedicated which led to improvement and a greater love of
the game. My coach noticed my hard work and appointed me captain of the
team.
Count Me in, West Hills Middle School, 8th grade
- Count Me In is an amazing club. CMI gives both the bully and the victim a
positive environment where they can share anything. In return, the members
of the club become like family. It makes the students more conscious of the
ways they can communicate effectively with others, while becoming more
empathetic towards all students; not just their close friends. The club does
not attempt to be the "police" of the hallways - it tries to encourage people to
look at their own behavior so that they can become more positive contributors
to a healthy school climate. This club taught me to look at my own behavior
and change my negative actions.
