Subject Synopsis
Chemistry 2 is a continuation of General Chemistry I. It involves a quantitative and
theoretical study of the physical principles underlying the properties and behavior of
chemical systems.

About the Subject

This subject covers the basic principles of chemistry including the study of
thermodynamics whereby the equilibrium properties of a system and changes in
equilibrium properties are examined. Other related topics include equilibrium reactions,
spontaneity, oxidation-reduction, electrochemistry and chemical periodicity and
properties of solutions. Laboratory work includes basic techniques of qualitative and
quantitative measurements and the application of chemical principles.
