Reflection

(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from
completing this field experience?
I found digging for the data needed for the assignment to be a little challenging at first, but once I located it, I was very relieved to be able to put it to use. In
looking at the data, I learned about the importance of being able to find, manipulate (in terms of working with it to see what correlations I can find), and chart
data. Furthermore, I found that in being a Data and Technology Coach, I will have to be able to produce quantifiable results for data and technology initiatives.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions
(attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected
above. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge I realized that I must know how to use the technologies I wish to showcase in order to gather meaningful data. I must also be able to know how
to use Excel for data collection, interpretation, and representation in terms of producing graphs.
Skills I must have clear communication skills, the ability to learn on my own, and the ability to learn on my feet. I will also have to know how to
communicate the UDP process to my colleagues in order to put it into practice.
Dispositions I also recognized that I must have a pleasant disposition toward all that I do especially where data is concerned. Oftentimes data sharing can
be a touchy process, and thus, by remaining positive and encouraging it becomes a learning experience for all instead of a few showing off while others feel
horrible.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school.
How can the impact be assessed?
This field experience will impact schools with regard to their students reading abilities by recording and tracking reading skills. The integration of contentrelated books along with content-specific vocabulary will prove very beneficial for students. All-in-all, the school will need to be sure to continue cultivating
an environment where students are more excited about reading and of their class content areas because they will be able to read books of their own choosing.
