Algebra I
Class Syllabus
Dear Students,
Welcome to a new school year, welcome to High School! This handout will help you get
through this class successfully. Please take the time to read it and let me know if you have any
questions.
Attendance & Make up Work:
Attending class is very important. If you are absent, you will be responsible of making up
assignments and turn them in the day after you return to class. Otherwise, the grade for that
assignment will be a zero. If you miss a test you will have until the end of the week to make it
up. It is YOUR responsibility to come see me after school for further instructions when you are
absent.
Materials:
Everyday be prepared to bring to school the following:
1. A 3 ring binder (with 3 dividers and enough college ruled paper)
2. A pen and a pencil with a good eraser
3. A regular or scientific calculator (cell phones will not be used as calculators)
4. A composition notebook
Organization:
Binders: You are required to keep all your assignments in a binder. Your papers must be neat
and organized in your binder (it will be graded) with dividers for the following sections:
1. Warm-Ups
2. Classwork / Notes
3. Homework
Homework / Classwork:
1. Regular Homework Assignments: You will be assigned homework on a DAILY basis! ALL
homework must have your name, date and period (in that order) on the top right hand
corner. Every problem must have the number and you must make an effort to answer
every problem in order to receive credit. Homework is due the next class day at the
beginning of class. If you dont have your homework ready by then, you will receive a
zero for that homework assignment.
2. All assignments must be completed in pencil.
3. The name, date, and period must be written in pen

Expected Classroom Behavior and Procedures
1. Come prepared to class every day. This includes having your materials ready and a
good attitude.
2. Be respectful with the teacher and your classmates. Use appropriate language inside the
classroom. Dont talk if the teacher is doing so. Call others by their names.
3. Keep your food away during class. Avoid eating any type of food (or candy) during class
time.
4. Keep your space clean. Clean your space when you arrive and before you leave the
classroom.
5. Keep your cell phones and other electronic devices away. The use of such devices is not
allowed during class time. Your friends on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat will
survive without you updating your status, your story, and your photos for 1 hour. Your
device will be taken away if you dont follow this procedure.
6. Come to class on time. Any student walking into the classroom after the bell rings will be
considered late. Lunch detention will be assigned by the attendance office as a result.
