Coursework: The main study of this course is in families of functions. Students

revisit quadratic equations and move quickly to the study of polynomial, exponential,
and logarithmic functions using graphical, numerical, and application problems.
Sequences and series are studied whereby students apply their knowledge of functions
to reveal patterns, recursion, and limits. The study of triangles and circles is continued
from Geometry and the student will be introduced to conic sections.

work for correctness. I will go over any homework questions daily.
Quizzes and Tests:
There will be at least one quiz near the middle of each chapter and a test at
the end of each chapter.
Grading:
Final grades will be based on a weighted average using the following scale:
Test / Quizzes:
50%
Classwork/Homework/Bellwork:
50%

Semester grades are computed using the following scale:

Quarter Grade: 40%
Quarter Grade: 40%

Final Exam: 20 %

Late Assignments:
Late work policy in accordance with the established High School
Homework Policy as follows:
Students are expected to do all assigned homework. All assignments will be
submitted for full credit
on the due date specified by the instructor. Assigned overnight homework
submitted one day late will receive 85% of the grade earned, 2 days late 70%, 3
days until the day of the test 55%. Late work will be accepted for partial credit until
the day of the test. Any work submitted after that will receive no credit.
Math Department Retake Policy
The MATH department will be allowing a retake on any unit test that a student has
earned a 66% or below on. Retakes will be given on Wednesdays (both before
and after school) in the Testing Room. Individual Teachers will tell students the
time frame that they have to retake the test.
Please note: The highest a student can earn on the test is a 67%. This retake
policy is currently not in affect for honors or AP math classes.
Requirements:
All Homework/Classwork for that unit must be completed by Test Day
The student must report to the testing room on the Wednesday(s) stated by their
classroom teacher. Retakes will not be given in class!
Absences:
In the event of an absence of any length, it is the students responsibility to obtain
work missed. Check the calendar posted in the classroom or my class website. All
handouts and notes will be placed in the corresponding folder at the back of the
room. If you miss a quiz or test you must schedule a time to take it before or after
school.
Extra Help: I am available before school if you require additional assistance. Food and
Functions is available during lunch. NHS also offers tutoring.
SAT Prep: Eleventh grade is a big year for testing. In order to help you to be as
successful as possible we will be incorporating SAT practice into our regular curriculum.
Fridays will be reserved for SAT review and we will be completing daily SAT review
bellringers.

The new state content expectations are more rigorous than ever before.
