Evasive approaches:

Benevolent lying - not malicious; beneficial for the


recipient

Equivocating - two or more plausible meanings (truth/lie,


clear/vague); not aimed at changing another's behavior

Hinting - seeks to get desired response; save the receiver


from embarrassment
