Position applying for:
- ROUNDS co-chair
A brief history about yourself:
I cant say that Im a country bumpkin as Im suburban born and bred (unless you consider
Pennant Hills the outback). Youd defintely be fooled though with the blundstone boots I typically
get around in and my beloved acoubra (pictured above). I am very passionate about issues
surrounding rural health and and have a keen interest in working in rural medicine in the future.
Prior to starting medicine this year I completed a Medical science degree at USYD and finished my
honours year in 2014. I have been an AIME (Australian indigenous mentoring experience) tutor in
past years and currently volunteer in an emergency department and both these experiences have
contributed to sparking my interest in rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Firstly, I will bring my love of rural health!! I am a bonded medical student and
have a desire to work rurally in the future, and would love to share my enthusiasm through
ROUNDS! Whilst studying physiotherapy, I enjoyed being a member of the University of
Newcastle rural health club (BREAATHHE), which organised some great events and
promoted rural health!
In terms of experience I have been a part of a number of executive teams for various
clubs. Most recently, I was the treasurer/secretary of the Physio Student Society
(University of Newcastle), helping to organise events such as professional development
courses, trivia nights, the annual physiotherapy ball and much more! I look forward to the
opportunity to bring my ideas and experience to ROUNDS in 2016.

A brief history about yourself: Hey there, my name is Georgie. I grew up in Warwick, a town of
about 20,000 people situated on the Darling Downs (South-East Queensland). I am passionate
about promoting equity of access and opportunity across the community. For the last 7 years, I
have been able to do this through my work in the disability sector. My hope now is to return to the
rural setting to promote access to great health care in these smaller communities.

A brief history about yourself: Hi everyone, for those who dont know me Im Nicola. Im from
New Zealand and moved to Australia this year. I studied at Otago University in New Zealand (the
famous university in the cadaver video we watched), where I studied a Bachelor of Science and
Post Graduate Diploma of Public Health. I was born rurally but moved to the big smoke (lets be
real- nowhere in NZ is particularly the big smoke, considering the population of our whole country
is the same as the population just in Sydney) when I was in primary school, but definitely feel most
at home somewhere in the country.
