GEOGRAPHY LESSON PLAN (GRADE 12)

PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY-CLIMATOLOGY

TOPIC: GLOBAL AIR CIRCULATION

LEARNING OUTCOMES: LO1 & LO2

ASSESSMENT STANDARDS: AS1, 2, 3 & 4

STAGE 1:

The difference between the air and the wind and

what causes the air to move. The main cause of
the movement of the air creating the wind.
STAGE 2:

I will explain to the learners the "CHANGES IN THE

ENERGY BALANCE" which causes the movement
of the air from the high to the low pressure cells.
I will explain to them what a low and high
pressure cell is. Give the names of them as they
appear on the synoptic map. They are the
Equatorial low, Subtropical high, Subpolar low
and the Polar high. I will explain also the
relationship between the temperature, wind,
atmospheric pressure gradient and the
geostrophic flow.

STAGE 3: (Assessment)

The will given a worksheet to draw and explain the

kinesthetic movements.
They will use their textbooks as the resources to
refer to them.
