Western New York leaders to gather for Knowledge Sciences

AUGUST 19, 2015 ST. BONAVENTURE, NY Knowledge management experts from the U.S. and abroad
as well as regional business, community, educational, and nonprofit leaders will gather at St. Bonaventure
University October 8-9 for the Western New York Knowledge Sciences Symposium.
Sponsored by the nations first knowledge management nonprofit, Pioneer Knowledge Services, the Western
New York Knowledge Sciences Symposium will create a blueprint for a regional Knowledge Sciences Center.
Just as the practice and process of knowledge management is widely used in business and industry to foster
innovation, sustainment, and growth, it can serve the same purpose for regions, communities and society, said
Edwin K. Morris, president and founder of Pioneer Knowledge Services.
The concept of the Knowledge Sciences Center envisions cultivating our regions knowledge assets, which is
essential for communities aiming to build a distinctive economic model in the knowledge economy of the 21st
Century.
Internationally recognized knowledge management expert David Gurteen
is the keynote speaker for the Symposium. Gurteen is the creator of the
Gurteen Knowledge Caf a powerful conversational tool for bringing
people together to have meaningful conversations. He is an advisor,
speaker and facilitator in the fields of Knowledge Management,
Organizational Learning and Conversational Leadership.
Gurteens participation in the WNY Knowledge Sciences Symposium is
made possible through funding from The John R. Oishei Foundation, one
of the first local foundations to invest in Knowledge Management.
The field of Knowledge Management envisions bringing people together
in conversation to share and learn from each other and make better sense
of the world and thus improve decision making and innovation, says Gurteen.
