An Instrument for God

Verse: 2 Chronicles 5:12 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks
to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their
voices in praise to the Lord and sang: He is good; His love endures forever. Then the temple of
the Lord was filled with the cloud.
When I was a little boy, about 5 years old, I saw someone play the violin. I became
curious how a wooden instrument can produce such beautiful sound. I told my mother that I
wanted to have my own violin and learn how to play it. She was hesitant at first but we were able
to find a violin I could use. As I started learning how to play the violin, I also had the chance to
play in the church. The first time I had that chance was very frightening and very wonderful.
I still remember what I told my mother because I was very happy and blessed for the
opportunity to serve God. I said to her, Mom, my dream is to be a part of the heavenly
orchestra; I want to play the violin there in heaven. That is still my dream now. I imagine
myself as a part of Gods big orchestra, to give praises and glory to His wonderful name.
God gives us the talent to play the violin, piano, guitar, flute, trumpets and other
instruments so that we could serve Him here in this earth and there in Heaven. We are only
practicing here. The real performance is in heaven, in front of the Lord who gave us these talents.
Our pieces will be songs of praises, joy and victory. The heavenly choir will sing, He is good,
His love endures forever. Im sure it will be a great experience.
The Lord gives us the opportunity to serve Him while we are still here on earth. We must
not waste that chance. We must not say no to every opportunity presented to use by God to play
for Him. Let us remember the parable of the talents and use our God-given talents for Him. Our
instruments are for God and God alone.
