DESCRIPTION
This is a course utilizing Microsoft E-Learning Courses. By the end of this course, students should be proficient in
the following Microsoft programs: Excel 2013 and Access 2013.
By the end of this course, students are expected to earn industry-recognized certifications in Microsoft Excel 2013
and Microsoft Access 2013.

made up immediately.

WHY SHOULD YOU WANT TO OBTAIN MICROSOFT OFFICE CERTIFICATION?

Certification will document your knowledge of the software.


Microsoft is a recognized industry leader.
It will give you the cutting edge against job or college applicants who do not have certification.
You may receive college credit (depends on the college).
Take exams now while it is free to you. After graduation, the cost will be $89* per exam.

POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS


1.

Attendance is critical. According to CMS policies, 11 absences will result in a failure of the class. It is the students
responsibility to obtain any makeup work and complete it within 5 days after returning from an absence. All
makeup work must be completed before or after school in the computer lab or at home. If the assignment or test
missed is not made up, a grade of 0 will be given.

EquipmentThe student is responsible for textbooks, computer equipment, and any other material used in this
classroom. NO FOOD (including candy), DRINK or any other substance that will damage equipment is allowed in
the computer lab. Students may be held financially responsible for any missing or damaged equipment.

Listen and follow instructions. When the instructor is talking, the student needs to listen. It is physically impossible to talk
and listen at the same time. The student must complete assigned work as instructed and follow all classroom
policies. The student must not interfere with the learning process of others.

Unexcused tardies are NOT acceptable. Tardy policy is posted in the classroom.

Participation is essential. The student is expected to be on task and to participate in the classroom activities. If the
student does not participate, they can expect to receive a 0 for the activity grade. It is through these activities
that the student will gain mastery of this course.

6.

Internet usage. The streaming of audio and or video, playing games on the computer (unless permission has been
given by the teacher), the use of chat rooms, email, or using the Internet for non-educational purposes is
prohibited. It is against school policy to download and install ANY software not currently installed on your computer.
Computers will be monitored at all times. If the student violates this rule, they will be referred to the appropriate
administrator for disciplinary action, and computer privileges will be revoked. Consider this your warning. STUDENTS
ARE EXPECTED TO BE RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE AND TO ABIDE BY ALL SCHOOL RULES.

Bathroom Policy In the case of an emergency, students will be allowed to use the bathroom. Students are NOT
allowed to use the bathroom the first 15 and last 15 minutes of class. There will be a sign-out sheet on the front desk.

8.

Fire Drill/Evacuation Policy When evacuating the building students are to stay close to the teacher. I will take
attendance once we have exited the building. Anyone that cannot be easily found will be written up for skipping.
Take all belongings with you when exiting the building.

The following items should be in your folder. You are asked to share this folder with your parents and have them sign the

REQUIRED SUPPLIES (NEED WITHIN A WEEK OF CLASSES STARTING)

2 GB or higher USB drive in which to save files and projects to. You can store on IHS share drive, but students
run out of room quickly. You may wish to keep some of the items for your portfolio.
