Abstract

This project on the Joint Venture between Mahindra Defence & Airbus Helicopters deals
with the strategic perspectives behind this venture. It explains the strategic rationale of
Mahindra Defence to enter into this joint venture. SWOT matrix has been developed for the
analysis of strategic planning. The strategic management process has been explained in detail,
which forms the base for the strategy formulation for Mahindra Defence. The three stages of
strategy formulation have been explained in detail and various models have been applied. As
part of the first stage, competitors analysis has been done with the help of Competitive
Profile Matrix. It is followed by the SPACE matrix in stage two and QSPM matrix in stage
three. The reasons behind partner selection have been explained in detail. In the end, financial
analysis (estimation) has been done for the new venture.
