Technology (incorporated in lesson):

Objective (Student Friendly):
WE WILL BE ABLE TO INTRODUCE OURESELVES IN
SPANISH.
1. Big Understanding (Real World):

Youtube video. Introduction in Spanish; Learn how

to introduce yourself in Spanish

Why would you need to introduce yourself? In what situations may you find yourself in, where this ability is needed?
2. Catch/Hook/Engage:
I will begin the lesson by asking the class Have you ever found yourself in a situation where simple Spanish
was needed? Either to ask a question or to introduce yourself? Where you too shy or afraid of making a
mistake and sounding dumb? Today our goal will be to introduce ourselves in basic Spanish.
3. Instructional Strategies / Student Activities
** Be sure to include any/all Grouping Patterns**
I will introduce the subject using graphic organizer. Addressing the entire class, I will go around introducing myself in
English, then in Spanish.
Teacher Input/Modeling: I will introduce myself in English and break down the process into Greeting,
Responses, and Inquiries. I will move along to Spanish and translate those same phrases.
Guided Practice: WE DO:
We will watch a video Introduction in Spanish; Learn how to introduce yourself in Spanish. I will then hand out the
worksheet Conversational Phrases. And ask the students to write one sentence with a partner containing a
Greeting/response/ inquiry.
CFU (Checking for understanding):
Students will work with their partners completing a simple 2 sentence conversation. Teacher will observe and pose
questions as students work.
Independent Practice: YOU DO (Individual students):
Students will share in partners, their conversation (greeting inquiry response) and I will check for grammatical
correctness. Teacher will encourage students, placing emphasis in attempting and not on correctness.
4. Higher Level Questions to Incorporate:
When will you need to use this skill? In what situations?
Why is it important to introduce ourselves? Do you think we have lost our ability to socialize?

5.

Ending, Summary / Reflection:

As a class we will discuss what we learned during the lesson. Address any questions, and re-teaching correct
pronunciation.
