Note to parents:
Thank you for entrusting me with the education of your child. Allow me to tell you a little about myself.
My name is Elizabeth McDaniel. I am a Gulfport native, but lived in Guatemala for two years where I learned
most of my Spanish. Upon returning to the U.S., I graduated from USM with my Spanish Bachelors degree and
then took courses at William Carey University in order to obtain my Teachers License.
I am so excited to have your child in my class this semester. We will play games, watch videos, eat food,
and learn while doing it all!

RoutinesandProcedures
1.Whenenteringtheroomatthebeginningofclass,studentsaretowalk in quietly and find their assigned
seat. Turn in any assignment (homework) that is due into the correct assignment tray, making sure their name
and date are clearly labeled. Return to their desk, get out needed materials, and quickly begin bellwork
assignment written on the board.
2.Uponcallingrole,students are to answer with Aqui or Presente. If a student is not in his or her desk at
3

this time, he or she will be counted absent.

3. Students are to have more than one writing utensil each day in class. If a student does not have these, the
teacher will provide one from the pencil cup. If a student must sharpen a pencil, he or she must raise his or
her hand for permission to leave the desk, walk quietly to the sharpened pencil cup, place their pencil in the
unsharpened pencil cup, and take a pencil from the sharpened pencil cup.
4. I dismiss the class, not the bell.
5. Bathroom breaks are not given unless they are emergencies. If a student must use the restroom during
class, he or she must use a bathroom pass (given 3 per 9 weeks), raise his or her hand, wait for the instructor
to call on him or her, and ask to use the restroom in Spanish (Puedo ir al bao?). Please notify me after class
if you have a medical issue that requires frequent bathroom visits.
6. If a student does not have materials needed for class, he or she will borrow materials for the day from the
teacher. The materials must be returned at the end of the class period.
7. Students are to label each paper in their notebooks, tests, and assignments on the upper right hand side:
Name, Date, Lesson, and Assignment. These must be readable.
8. If you finish early on a particular assignment, you may read or grab a worksheet from the Early Finishers
tray. These are your only two options.
9. If a student is tardy, he or she must report to the office to receive a tardy form. The name of the student
will be recorded in the grade book after attendance is called. Participation points are deducted for unexcused
tardies, Any tardy will result in a write up (as stated in the handbook).
10. Talking during a test or quiz will result in a test taken up before time or a ZERO. After finishing a test or
quiz, students will flip their paper over and wait until others have finished. Once turned in, tests are FINAL.
11. Students are not allowed to use cellphones during class time unless given permission by me to use for an
assignment.
