Inquiry Product Defense Paper
I chose to make a Prezi that shows the life paths of two of the same but
different people. Jonny Football and Noah Football are two people who are portrayed
in this presentation. The reason I chose to present my inquiry ideas this way is
because I believe that a side by side comparison will allow the audience to
understand both the benefits and negative effects of playing football as well as not
playing football. This genre will be presented in a clinic setting to a group of parents
that have children whom they are thinking about allowing them to play football at
an early age. The decision is a very hard one (What decision?) considering that it
can dramatically affect a person initially and/or over time. The parents are
considering football for their children ages 6-12 and have no previous experience in
the sport. This presentation allows the parents to see two different paths their child
could take based off of their decision to play football or not. Noah Footballs parents
decide not to allow him to play football and he focuses on school and fine arts while
becoming very intelligent in the classroom. Jonny Football becomes a football star
and is given a full scholarship to play at the collegiate level. There are tid bits of
information given in each of the sub categories of his life that are based off of my
research done through both scholarly and non-scholarly sources. I dont like this. I
think that tid bits needs to go and that sub catagories needs to be explained. The
sources thing doesnt really matter and there could be some good information going
in to this besides this.

The reason that this presentation needs to be shown to the parents is

because it contains important information regarding to their childrens future and
safety. The risk involved with playing the sport is a topic that the parents must take
into consideration. According to Traumatic Brain Injury and Chronic Traumatic
Encephalopathy: A Forensic Neuropsychiatric Perspective, A recent review by the
Associated Press of 95 lawsuits filed against the NFL revealed over 3,700 plaintiffs,
involving players, spouses, and other relatives or representatives. This peer edited
article shows the responses of families of players who have been injured while
playing in the NFL. The game of football is not an easy game to take part in and you
can get hurt in a blink of an eye. If parents make the decision to let their children
play solely based off of how much money their son will make them in the future
then they are doing things wrong. This needs to flow more steadily and really work
to make this middle of the paper section productive. I think that this needs to be
less one sided and more factual. There is so much more you have to think about
before you make such a big decision and this side by side comparison will help
parents get a better grasp for what football can do for their kids.
The conversation on this topic basically comes down to two different
opinions. Playing football is worth the risk because of the multiple benefits that it
can bring a player and their family, and playing football is too risky to play and not
worth the possible injuries and trauma that are apparent in past players. Could
make the argument or opinion a bit different and not so much there are only two
different options. Maybe show that there are more options but they just arent
included in this paper. The information is there; I have found research such as that
found on www.americanmigrainefoundation.org which states that sports like football
are more likely to affect a person negatively when it comes to headaches and

migraines later in life. These headaches are not normal for people to experience and
if you were a parent and could stop your child from experiencing these things would
you? Something else besides headaches would be truthful as well. Maybe some
other injuries like knee injuries? Maybe too one sided. Some people may see this as
a red flag while others will simply shrug it off. The financial side of things may also
come into your decision when thinking about allowing your son to play football. It
will cost you a few hundred dollars a year to put your son through community
football programs in the early years, but as your child gets older he will be less
expensive. For example if he plays college football on scholarship all of his gear is
paid for as well as tuition. Change this
As seen in the story of Noah and Jonny Football, there are both positive and
negative sides of both pathways. In Noahs story he lived a very normal life and
ended up living happily with his wife at the beach. In the story of Jonny Football, you
see that he lived a more untrusting life and played in the NFL for 5 years. He made
a lot of money but still had to take on a job that he did not like. Could do a better
job at allowing different circumstances rather than these ones or at least let the
audience know.A lot of people knew his name and he ended up at the beach with
his wife and kids as well. As for the beginning of both of their lives it was very
obvious that Jonny had it better off in most instances but they both made it out
alright. According to longitudinal studies performed by a various number of
colleagues of Truesport.com, children who play sports compared to those who do
not are have a higher standard for excellence in the classroom, serve more in the
community and have a greater family interaction Like I said before, there are many
different possibilities for football players and non-football players alike and this is
only one example to allow parents to see some of the risks and benefits.

Overall, I believe the information given in this presentation will be very

beneficial in the future of this society. Concussions are a very serious thing as well
as other chronic injuries and brain diseases so it is important to do your research
before making a big decision. After reading the two different paths that Jonny
Football and Noah Football have chosen to take, I believe that the parents will have
a better understanding of possibilities with their children. Im not saying that the
cases of Noah and Jonny Football are guaranteed, based off of facts and sources this
is a very great possibility and a great example for parents of soon to be football
players. What are some things that I could do to really make this last paragraph
show more than a one sided brain injury standpoint?
