Grades
Grades (O, S, U) will be given each marking period based on the following criteria:
Assignments Students will be given assignments during the marking period. These
assignments are expected to be completed on time to receive full credit. Points will be
deducted for late and/or incomplete assignments. If a student is absent on the date an
assignment is due, he/she should submit it on the day of return.
Lessons/Sectionals All students will have an assigned lesson/sectional time. A lesson
schedule will be distributed and lessons groups will rotate according to the calendar posted in
the band room and online. Students are expected to attend each lesson, which will be
assessed based on improvement, practice, and effort put forth. Students must attend a
minimum of 3 sectionals and satisfactorily complete other requirements for an O in
band.
Performance Rubric Students must complete a playing evaluation each marking period.
Rubrics will be completed during designated times at the end of each quarter.

Marching Band A calendar and expectations packet was given to all students at the end of
last school year. Students must attend all marching band rehearsals and performances. Two
or more unexcused absences will affect third quarter off privileges and grades in the first
and second marking periods. Students who attend pep band games will receive extra credit.
Performances Students must attend all dress rehearsals and performances as listed below.
Unexcused absences will result in the lowering of the students grade by one letter (O to S or
S to U).
Participation/Effort Students will be assessed daily during class based on participation,
effort, preparation, and responsibility. Students who do not comply (ie unprepared, gum, do
not put instruments/music away, lock lockers, disrupt class, etc) will receive a warning (first
occurrence) and lose points for each following occurrence.
Assistance on assignments, band music, or lesson material is ALWAYS available from Ms.
Kulikowski.
