Activity #2: Internet fieldtrip Google Earth (13 min)

During the exploration, you need to be searching for 2 things to write on your page:
1. How the places look different from Brooks
2. One interesting thing you see

Explore beautiful gardens and nature in Japan


Kenroku-en, Kanazawa
Koraku-en Okayama
Sankeien Garden

Explore old architecture:


Hirosaki Castle
Matsumoto Castle

Iyo Matsuyama Castle


Inuyama Castle
If all went well, take a request for a place to explore in Japan!
Discussion: Share a few things that you wrote down about the adventure

Activity #2: Time Period and Critical Thinking Charts (30 min)

Explain the time period that we are studying: The Edo Period
Renaissance: Same time, different place
What do you remember about the Renaissance?

Explain what the technology was like back then, for students to get an idea about the early era.

Give instructions for Critical Thinking Charts

Question the students via popsicle sticks to ensure understanding of instructions

Students work independently on the charts

Discuss together as a class.
