The IMXi-4 inverse multiplexer splits a single

high speed channel of up to 8.3 Mbps, and
transmits it over up to four E1/T1 or SHDSL
network links. IMXi-4 bridges the bandwidth gap
between E1/T1 and E3/T3 services, while
providing the flexibility to increase throughput
from one to four lines as network requirements
grow. Automatic rate fallback ensures continued
transmission even if an individual link fails.
RADs IMXi-4 enables enterprises and service
providers to use the same device for Ethernet or
IP environments. When operating in bridge
mode, user LAN traffic can be VLAN tagged or
stacked for transparent transport. The user port
has a 10/100BaseT interface.

Using SHDSL links, IMXi-4 can extend Ethernet

service coverage to reach more customers.
2.0 Mbps/1.5 Mbps traffic can be transported up
to 6.6 km (4.1 miles) over copper lines, without
the need for additional equipment. SHDSL
support adds flexibility, enabling an increase in
the distance by adjusting the data rate, while
enlarging the total throughput to 8.3 Mbps.
Local and remote IMXi-4 units can be managed
by RADview-EMS, an SNMP CORBA-based
multiplatform element management system,
allowing remote troubleshooting and
configuration. The units can also be managed via
Telnet or an ASCII terminal through a dedicated
timeslot.
