At times, many of us are caught in a situation of moral conflict,

where we have to choose between two seemingly right

alternatives. Describe up to two situations when you faced this
conflict. How did you resolve them? (WL: 500)
Yes, I have been in a moral conflict once.
I worked for Enactus,an international organization that connects student,
academic and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects
that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable
progress for themselves and their communities, for 3 years in Shaheed
Sukhdev College of Business Studies. During my 1 st year, I worked as an
associate for 2 different projects to understand the working of the
organization. During my 2nd year I initiated a project and led a 60-member
team to adopt a village, Ghamroj on the Sohna road, near Delhi to improve
the socio economic conditions of the residents of Ghamroj
While looking for an ideal village to work for , we had 2 options:
Village 1 : This village was needy and had a very low average disposable
income. The disposable income of the people was 1000 per month per
family. They were hardly able to survive and the children did not go to
school. The social and environmental condition in the village was also very
poor. On the other hand, the people there were not willing to work. They
wanted money but did not want to work for it. They were satisfied with
what they had.
Village 2 : There were 3 sections in this village. One was a rich section,
one was hand to mouth and the 3rd section could barely survive with
monthly disposable income of 1500 per family. The kids did not go to
school there also. The people there were ambitious and were looking for
opportunities.
This was a very difficult situation for us as , the 1 st village needed us more.
We decided to go with village 2, as there was a poor section there too who
were looking for opportunities. Being a student run organization, we
wanted to create as much impact in least time, as there only as much that
we can do. Also if a man does not want to fish, it takes a lot of time and
effort to convince him to fish. This was our first initiative so we wanted to
experiment with the people who would still survive if the project failed.
Hence, after much deliberation we went ahead with Village 2.
