Role

Let us first review the definition of Psychology.


Psychology is defined as the science of
behavior and mental processes.

From this definition, we are again able


to derive three important aspects:
Science, Behavior, Mental Processes

As we all know, Psychology uses the


Scientific Methodology to come up with
empirical evidences, thus it is considered as
a science.

Aside from being a science, Psychology is


also the study of Behavior.

when we speak of behavior, it is


anything a person does.
It is our reaction to any stimulus that
surrounds us.

Behavior also pertains to a number of human activities.

It is because of the observed and studied


responses that Psychology moved away from
the belief that the soul governs man.
Thus , during the Middle Ages, SCIENCE
became
the
most
used
approach
in
Psychology.

It is because of the study of Human


Behavior that different Schools of
Thoughts in Psychology was established.

A procedure employed in the study and


observation of conscious experiences

Association

Refers to a connection between conceptual


entities or mental states that results from the
similarity between those states or their
proximity in space or time

Apperceptio
n

The process by which new experience is


assimilated to and transformed by the
residuum of past experience of an individual
to form a new whole.In short, it is to perceive
new experience in relation to past experience.

Believe that there are different faculties in


our conscious experiences:
1. External - those that our senses can
perceived
2. Internal - those that are organic
