This article highlights the sub-culture of mens footwear. The boom of fanatic fans who
love sneakers and the growth of the culture. The article explores the great lengths that
certain consumers will take to find the perfect shoe. Also, it explains different times in
sneaker history that were pivotal to the growth of the sneaker culture. The author
demonstrates the evolution of a culture that many do not understand but explains why
people love shoes so much.
I feel that this source is useful to my paper. The sneaker culture is young and the author
provides a detailed timeline for the growth of the culture. I was able to gain a lot of useful
knowledge that will provide great information for my paper.
I am highly confident that this article is a credible source; I got it from Drexel University
library. It does not seem like the author writing style is persuasive but informational. I
found this article on Googlescholar.com and it is from an educational system.

Just for Kicks is a documentary about the rise of the sneaker boom in urban populated
areas and how it contributed to hip-hop. This movie gathers testimonials from musicians,
dancers, and sneaker collectors to gain an inside look into the culture. From the late 70s
to present day the movie highlights monumental moments that created the boom for
sneakers.
I found this movie to be extremely helpful and interesting. I was able to relate to a lot of
interviewees and found a greater appreciation for sneakers. The culture was founded on
the sneakers pioneers like the dancers and hip-hop artists because they were the coolest
people at the time. This movie went in depth about the personal connections that one has
with their sneakers.
I found this movie to be a credible source. The people that were interviewed are all well
respected in the sneaker community. Throughout the movie I search ever fact and each
one was correct.

This chapter explains how the top shoe manufacturing companies market sneakers to the
masses. Different marketing techniques for different consumers. It encompasses the
whole ideology of shoe marketing and how advertising plays a major role for a shoes
popularity. It explains Nikes first commercial with Michael Jordan to their global
marketing strategies. Also, this chapter highlights each shoe companys ability to market
to new and existing consumers.
This chapter gave me another angle to look at my research. Besides why people love
sneakers I was able to get an inside look on how shoe manufactures manipulate the

interest of sneaker fans. Another way of looking at my research provided me with a


deeper understanding of the sneaker business.
Tom Vanderbilt the author of this book is a best-seller and is known for providing factual
information in his writing. Its a fun informative book that highlights the main features of
the sneaker business.

In the article Make Your Own Shoes it highlights advancement in sneaker designing
technology. A new digital manufacturing called CAD has revolutionized the way
designers are able to produce a shoe. A process which used to take weeks has now been
reduce to only days. New Balance which is the focus of this article has incorporated the
new system and has seen a major increase in product development. CAD is the way of
the future and includes 3-D modeling that has never been used before. Sneakers designers
are now able to sketch a design of a shoe in a whole new innovative process.
This article explained the design process of shoes and added another inside look of the
sneaker business. The design and mold of a shoe is vital aspect for most consumers and
this article explains the process of new 3-D modeling will make for better shoes. Another
beneficial aspect of this article is that it provides me with another way to examine the
sneaker culture by understanding the business side.

I like this article a lot because it shows how the sneaker culture was developed. Hip-hop
artists played a crucial role for making sneakers cool. This article gives a detailed
timeline on the progression of sneakers.
I been coming to this site for years and this particular article has always peaked my
interest. My trust with this website is strong because I felt that I have never been
provided false information. I always check the facts that I am given and this website
checks out. The information was useful and I gained new information that will provide
me for a better paper. This article was gave me the facts and did not stray away from the
topic.
