Government Flipped Classroom Syllabus

1. Course Description
This course is designed to be a flipped classroom where you will work
through online lessons about what the U.S. Government is and important
information related to it. You will work on online assignments Monday
through Thursday. Then on Friday there will be an in class project or
assignment that you will complete in small assigned groups. The online
lessons and in class projects will lead to a final exam at the end of the eighth
week. It is very important to stay focused and complete the work with the
pace of the class.

Suggested Textbooks
There are no required textbooks. All materials will be given via the Weebly
or in class.

Student Learner Responsibilities


It is an expectation that students will complete weekly assignments online
and in class discussion or projects. Students will be responsible for several
tasks during the week including weekly quizzes, blog post, project, and
writing assignments. Some of the assignments will be published online and
others will need to be turned in during class. It is expected that all students
will try their best on all assignments.

Teacher Responsibilities
The teachers responsibilities are to create the online lessons and
monitor the work of the students. She will create collaborative projects for
the students to complete along with formative and summative assessments
to check for understanding.

On Line Office Hours


The instructor will be available at any time between 7am and 9pm via
email. Other questions can be used during class Monday through Friday while
at school.

Grading Policy
Grades will be taken on the same scale as used in class. Since we are
standards based, you will be graded on a 1 to 4 scale as follows.
1- Emerging- You are starting to understanding and use the knowledge
but need a lot of assistance from others.
2- Developing- You are really starting to understand the information by
yourself but still need help from time to time.
3- Meet- You completely understand the information on your own.
4- Exceed- You have learned all of the material and taken the information
a step farther.

This course will take place over eight weeks with one lesson per week.

Attendance requirements

You are required to attend school every day and complete the weekly
online lesson. We know how important it is to be at school because this is
how you learn and grow as a student. It is very important that you attend
school on Friday to participate in the group project/in class work related to
the weekly lesson.
12. Exploration
Students may choose to continue learning about the U.S. Government and
research further topics related to it. Remember to use the safe search
website that is found on our school website (Whitney Website Students
Safe Search Engines).
