Instructions: Welcome to Week 7 of the online U.S. Government course! Please complete the
following activities for this week. Make sure that you complete each activity by the time it is
due. Due dates are located at the end of each activity listed below.
(1) Complete Week 7 Pre-Test. Read Chapter 16 Sections 1 and 2 (pages 444-455).
Create a new document with your Google Drive account and title it Your Name
Week 7 Activities. On this new document you will type out each of the Key Terms
and Concepts for Sections 1 & 2, as well as their definitions. Make sure to label this
section Ch. 16 Vocabulary Terms: Sec.s 1 & 2. Watch the video on the Electoral
College. Complete this activity by 11:59pm Monday of Week 7.
(2) Read Chapter 16 Sections 3 & 4 (pages 436-460). In your "Week 7 Activities
document, type out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Sections 3 & 4, as well
as their definitions. Make sure to label this section Ch. 16: Vocabulary Terms: Sec.s
3 & 4. Watch the videos on Presidential Powers. Complete this activity by
11:59pm Tuesday of Week 7.
(3) Read Chapter 17 Sections 1 & 2 (pages 474 479 and 480 485). In your "Week 7
Activities document, type out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Sections 1 &
2, as well as their definitions. Make sure to label this section Ch. 17: Vocabulary
Terms: Sec.s 1 & 2. Watch the video on How the President Governs. Complete this
activity by 11:59pm Wednesday of Week 7.
(4) Read Chapter 18 Section 1 (pages 498 502). In your "Week 7 Activities document,
type out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Section 1, as well as their
definitions. Make sure to label this section Ch. 18: Vocabulary Terms: Sec. 1.
Watch the videos on the federal bureaucracy. Complete this activity by 11:59pm
Thursday of Week 7.
(5) Visit the Discussion Blog and answer the questions for Week 7. Review your Week 7
Google Drive document. Complete the Week 7 Post-Test. Complete this activity by
11:59pm Friday of Week 7.

Discussion Questions:
1. Do you believe the power of the president has gained strength over time since the
Constitution was written? What proof do you have? Would the founding fathers agree
with your answer?
2. If an amendment was created and adopted to the U.S. Constitution to eliminate the
Electoral College, would it dramatically change the way we elect the President? Would
eliminating the Electoral College be a good thing? Why or why not?
3. Has the federal bureaucracy become too big? Why or why not? If so, which
department(s) would you do away with, and if not, which department(s) would you
create?
