All About the Revolutionary War

Before the Revolutionary War there was another

The first battles of the Revolutionary War were the

lasted from 1754 to 1763. The name is misleading

because it was actually a war between the French and the

everything they needed. The taxes were called acts. The
first act was called the sugar which was made in 1761.
This act led into a lot of other acts like the tea act. The tea
act was the reason for the Boston Tea Party.
One of the first things that started the war was the

All About the Midnight Ride

"The British are coming! The British are coming!"
Paul Revere yelled as he rode through the town. Well, that's
what we thought he said. He might have actually said "The
Regulars are out! The Regulars are out!" while he rode the
Midnight Ride. What? You don't know what the Midnight
Ride is? Oh, then let me start from the beginning...
When the first battle of the Revolutionary War, (the
battles of Lexington and Concord) were about to begin ( which by
the way were supposed to be sneak attacks) Paul Revere realized
that the British were coming and that he had to do something
about it. So he decided to go warn people but he knew he couldn't
do it alone. Finally, he decided to get two more people to help him.
Their names were William Dawes and Samuel Presscott who
went on different routes. There is a poem about the Midnight ride
except it doesn't include Dawes and Presscott. This was part
of the poem...
"Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;

Hardly a man is now alive

Who remembers that famous day and year.
He said to his friend,"If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,
One, if by land, and two, if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm.
That poem pretty much summed the whole thing up but it left out some
parts. Like how he said ( or at least people think he said) "The
British are coming!" or how it left out Presscott and Dawes. One
thing that it did say that might have been confusing was "One if by
land, two of by sea." What that meant was, like the poem said, Paul
Revere was watching ready to ride where he could see the lanterns.
He told someone to hang one lantern if the British were coming by
land and two lanterns if they were coming by sea. The person lit two
lanterns and Revere, Dawes, and Presscott

were off. Once people learned that the British

were coming someone fired a gun to start the war.
That shot was known as the "shot heard 'round the
world. That's the story of the Midnight Ride.

Paul Revere yelling

"The Regulars are
out!"

My Version of the Midnight Ride

"Goodnight,
Allison" Mother said
as I was going to bed.
"Goodnight" I
answered sleepily.
After about five minutes
I drifted to sleep.
"The Regulars
are out!" Paul Revere
yelled. It was about
12:00 midnight when I
woke up to that. I ran to
Mother who was
standing at the window.
"What is
happening?" I asked,
confused.
"The British are
coming to attack"

she answered calmly but I could tell

she was scared.
"What should we do?" I asked.
"I do not know" Mother
answered. Finally we decided to go to
sleep.
"The Regulars are out! The
Regulars are out!"
After I sat in bed for awhile I
went to Mother and said "I can not
sleep, I am scared"
"It is okay, just try to sleep"
Mother answered.
After lying in bed I finally
dozed off to sleep.

Why the Midnight Ride is Important

Now that you know all about the Midnight Ride, you
need to know why it was important. This is why...
The Midnight Ride was important because people
wouldn't have known that the British were coming, no one would
have known that a war was about to begin, and the Minute Men
wouldn't have been ready.
One reason of why the Midnight Ride was important is
that people wouldn't have known that the British were coming.
This made the Midnight Ride important because if Paul
Revere didn't warn Hancock and Adams that the British
were coming for them, they would have been arrested. Another
example if why the this made the Midnight Ride important is
people would have been really scared and wouldn't know what
was happening. The last example of why this made the
Midnight Ride important is everyone would have been
unprepared.
Another reason of why the Midnight Ride was
important is no one would have known that a war was about to
begin. One example

of this made the Midnight Ride important is none of the soldiers

would have been ready. Another example of why this made the
Midnight ride important is people wouldn't know what to do. The
last example of why this made the Midnight Ride important is a lot
more people would have been killed.
The last reason of why the Midnight Ride was important is
the Minute Men wouldn't have been ready. This makes the
Midnight Ride important because nothing would have been
protected. Some things that wouldn't be protected are the people and
the supplies that would have been destroyed.
That is why the Midnight Ride is important.
