Advisory

Morning meeting reflection

1. Describe your advisorys process for creating the powerpoint and leading
morning meeting.
In advisory, Gil assigns one person to set up the whole general presentation
(whether it be on PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Prezi). Then, the rest of the advisory chooses a
slide theyd like to create and present for our morning meeting week. We all individually create
our assigned components of the morning meeting presentation and later reconvene and discuss
how our presentation will be played out. Finally, we simply present what we practiced for.

2. How well did your advisory collaborate in creating the powerpoint and leading the
meeting?
For the most part, our advisory collaborated well in simple manner that we
checked in with each other to make sure our work was nice and neat. It was easy to shoot an
email to our advisees to let them know they made a minor mistake. During morning meeting, we
made sure our advisees were in school on time with a quick text or phone call. If our advisees
didnt feel comfortable with saying their part, we first attempted to encourage them to. When all
else failed, we cooperatively assisted them with their part.

3. What was hard about the process? What was easy or fun?
The hardest part of the process was meeting deadlines of when we also have to deal
with other assignments whilst working on morning meeting. Other than that, morning meeting
was easily manageable. It was fun to present because we just let loose and be creative with our
interactions with the audience. We tried to make it comical.

4. How would you describe your role in the process? Leader? Contributor? Creative
designer? Main speaker? How well did you collaborate?
I was definitely a leader in the process even though I didnt host the main setting up of
the morning meeting presentation. I was, however, a main speaker. When some of my peers
didnt feel comfortable speaking to the large audience I gladly took their part and presented. I
collaborated very well.

5. What did you learn about yourself from the process of working with your advisory
to lead morning meeting?
I learned that I can be creative in finding ways to engage an audience even if the
audience doesnt have a designated opportunity to provide input in morning meeting. I just had
to think a little harder of ways to keep their attention on morning meeting.

6. What would you hope to do differently next time?

Next time (as a senior), I hope to do a cute Goodbye Gil theme unlike the seniors in
our advisory. Id like to take out that time and appreciate Gilbert for being our advisor.
