CONTEXTUAL FACTORS
MDD Standard 1
The teacher candidate collects data regarding the institutional and classroom
contexts, the characteristics of the pupils as a group and its diversity, using this
information to plan and deliver instruction.
1. Community in which the school is located and/or serves, municipality or
owner and school factors: Below, describe the geographic location, community and
school population, socioeconomic profile, and race/ethnicity.
1.1. How These Factors May Impact My Lessons: Explain specific ways that
these factors may impact your lesson topics, teaching strategies, assessment
techniques, etc.
There is a student who shows a substantial knowledge about the content, but she
does not used to work or accomplish the activities, she is very kind and talkative.
Actually, she used to translate the instructions given by the teacher.
There is a group of student who dont talk, and try to be unnoticed; and that is why
teacher dont work usually with them. However, they have shown me that they have
good competences in the oral production of the language.
Taking these characteristics into a count in my lessons, I will need more talkative
activities, and also personalized activities. I probably will ask this talkative girl to
help me during the giving of instructions.
3. Physical Aspects of the Classroom and Their Instructional Implications:
Below, describe how two physical aspects of the classroom you observed (e.g., posters,
room arrangement, technology) might impact the way you instruct students, for
example, planning, motivation, management, or assessment. For each example, give a
specific instructional implication that will influence how you plan and implement your
instruction.
3.1 Description of First Physical Aspect:
3.1.1 How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson
3.2 Description of Second Physical Aspect:
3.2.1How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson
First, according to how the room is built would provide me a better lesson
management,
because the teacher is capable to see all students and all student
should be able to see the teacher.
Secondly, the facility of technology is located in order to be seen by all the student, no
one can interfere any other students vision.
Considering all before, I should provide clearer instructions and I should be able to
explain them better by my own gestures or using the computer. Thus, I might reinforce
my delivering instruction skills in the lesson plans and orally.
4. Reflects on the importance of knowing about students and the context to
provide quality teaching
This is a very important part at the moment of planning, or making decisions of how to
teach the content. Mainly because, the results of students learning are going to very
related to the way the learnt it. Thus, activities, instructions, content, and outcomes,
should be positive in terms of learning. Now, the question is how to makes students
learn and make all this process positive? This is what data collection should answer,
and give teacher a path or certain clue about how to get to students.
