There are three types of rocks.

Metamorphic rocks

Igneous rocks are

made when magma
(lava) cools.

Examples of igneous
rocks include granite,
diorite and basalt.

Sedimentary rocks are

made of layers.

Examples of
sedimentary rocks
include sandstone,
limestone and chalk.

Metamorphic rocks are

rocks changed by heat
and pressure.

Examples of
metamorphic rocks are
marble, slate and
schist.
