Ban Ki-Moon
United Nations Secretary General
Dear General Ban Ki-moon:
In the 20th century, the world has become more globalized through
inventions and technology that could help or potentially harm other
countries. The United Nations as you know have been faced with ongoing
issues such as protecting human rights, safeguarding peace and establishing
framework for international justice. A popular topic known as global
interdependence plays a large role in actively participating in the above
ongoing issues. Majority of this is relied on for imports and exports.
The importance of living in a globalized world is the dependency on each
other in order for the economy in the world to thrive and do well. A popular
issue that you are dealing with is safeguarding peace, which majority of the
countries are lacking heavily in this area recently. The issue of the group ISIS
is a popular topic because ultimately it is endangering the civilians of the
country. Being here in the United States and watching the world news on a
daily basis, it is nerve racking knowing the violence that is occurring within
those countries. It is settling knowing that you use the Security Council to
end multiple conflicts with other countries. Also reading about the UNTSO
known as the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization gives me a
sense of how you are putting rules in place to try and safeguard your citizens
of your countries. Im sure from your perspective there are always changes
that could be made and new rules and regulations that could be put into
place in order to greater the safety of the individuals.

Human rights which is also a popular issue that you are facing right now, is
always a concern, especially to the people of their country. The International
Human Rights Laws is a very descriptive law that outlines the responsibility
of the governments and the actions that need to be taken in order to protect
the citizens. As an American citizen, human rights are a very important
concept to me as an individual. To know that life, liberty and freedom is
around you, I would not know how to live life without those things given to be
as a citizen of the United States. It is great to see that the Security Council
also helps in making this possible within the United Nations.
Overall as the General of the United Nations, you have many responsibilities
and ongoing current issues that you are faced with on a daily basis. After
reading about you and your history as a person, and all of the laws and
regulations that you put into place throughout your time in office is very
impressive for you and the United Nations as a whole. I believe that us as a
world or even individual countries continue to allow global interdependence,
it will have nothing but a positive affect on each other and the economy as a
whole. Good luck with the rest of your term in office and I look forward to
reading updates about your work and the United Nations.
Sincerely,
Gino DePaul
