    Winter's Farm is a sustainable family farm that has been in the owner's family since 1938.     specificportionbecauseWintersfarmisunlikemostfarmswithinAmerica.Itisa
    sustainablefamilyfarmthathasbeenintheownersfamilysince1938.Whatseparates
    WintersFarmfromthe,otherwisecommerciallyownedfarmswithinAmerica,istheir
    selfaware,environmentfriendlytakeonfarming.Usingundergroundirrigation,
    compostingmethods,andadecreaseduseofpesticidescreateswhatisknownasa
    sustainablefarm.
    Marvin,theowner,tookI,alongwithmygroup,onatourofhisfarmandeagerly
    answeredanyquestionswehad.Whenaskedabouthisuseofpesticides,Marvintoldus
    thathisfarmhastobeverycarefulaboutwhichandhowmuchpesticidestheyshould
    use.Inordertokeepwithinthesustainableandorganiclaneoffarmingtheirpesticides
    havetobeapprovedandmadecertainthattheydonotharmtheenvironmentsurrounding
    them.Moreover,hewentontoexplainthathisfarmusesacompostsystemthatreuses
    anyunusedoroldcomponentsoftheirproducttocreatenewsoil,effectivelyrecycling
    almosteverythingtheycreatetofurthertheirsustainablegoal.

    TheEthicalandSocialResponsibilitystatementlocatedinScore6states,
    presentswelldevelopedideasontheroleofethicalissuesandsocialresponsibilitiesin
    bothprivateandpubliclife(UNSTGoals:Score6)BytouringMarvinsfarmand
    furtheringmyresearchaboutwhatittrulymeanstobesustainableIfeelIhaveachieved
    thisgoal.Marvinsfarmisaprivatefarmthataffectsthosearoundhimbecauseofhis
    choicestobeselfawareandknowledgeableaboutwhathemustdoinordertocreatea
    livablesocietyforfuturegenerations.

    compassandhowweactivelythinkasmembersofboththepublicandprivatearena.The
    overlyingdefinitionfortheEthicsandSocialResponsibilityGoalstates,Studentswill
    expandtheirunderstandingoftheimpactandvalueofindividualsandtheirchoiceson
    society,bothintellectuallyandsocially,throughgroupprojectsandcollaborationin
    learningcommunities(UNSTGoals)IfeelImeetthisgoalwiththehelpofmygroup
    andMarvinswillingnesstosupplyuswithfirsthandinformation.Bygettingahandson
    experienceofwhatasustainablefarmtrulymeans,I,alongwithmygroup,wasableto
    portraytheimpactandvalueofindividualsandtheirchoicesonsocietywithina
    scholarlymannerthatleadmetomakethoughtfulconnectionsbetweenthisareaof
    studyanditseffectsonlives,ideas,andevents(UNSTGoal,Score5)
    BydoingthisprojectI,myself,havebecomemoreawareofthehardworkand
    effortthatgoesintomakingclean,sustainableproductsinamannerthatwillaffectthose
    ofbuyandconsumeit,aswellasthesoilitiscreatedin,fortheircompostingsystem
    allowstheearthtoreplenishitselfandnotbecomedeadandbeatenupfromyearsof

    chemicallyenhancedmanure.Furthermore,thisprojecthasforcedmetolookinwardon
    mywastefulnessinmyeverydaylifeandtoevaluate,onadeeperlevel,theimpactthat
    Marvin,alongwithalltheotherfarmerswhochosetousesustainablemethods,hason
    theenvironment.
