Photography Workshops with Beezer: Sundays 14th & 21st

February
Celebrated photographer Beezer is coming to the Pierian Centre in St Pauls to run
workshops for young people on Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st February.

Beezer earned an international reputation for his work documenting the Wild Bunch
boys and the 80s music scene in Bristol. He now lives in Tokyo and works all over
the globe, but Beezer is briefly back in Bristol – back in St Pauls – to help young
people follow in his footsteps.

Beezer’s lens captured the excitement of the 1980s underground scene in Bristol.
His friendship with the Wild Bunch boys, and his contacts at the Dug Out and among
the DJ and graffiti scene, gave him privileged access to characters and events that
proved milestones in youth culture. Beezer’s workshop will encourage and equip
the young people of today to look around them and document a world that could
prove just as historic!

Beezer’s work has just been seen at the City Museum & Art Gallery – and it
continues to hang at the Pierian Centre’s Picture Space, the new display space in
St Pauls. It is there, at Picture Space, that the photographs produced in Beezer’s
workshops will be displayed. When Beezer’s own exhibition comes down,
photographs produced in these workshops will go up on the walls – on public display
through till June.

The workshops are open to all comers, but preference will be given to 16-26 year
olds born or living in St Pauls. They take place on Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st
February from 11am–5pm. So do get in touch if you're interested! We’re on 0117
924 4512 or june@pieriancentre.com. The Pierian Centre is at 27 Portland Square,
St Pauls, Bristol BS2 8SA. The price is £10 for the two workshops, payable on the
first Sunday – and the project is supported by Saint Pauls Unlimited and organized
by State of Art, the Pierian Centre and curator Katy Chard.
