#5 Wedding Renewal Vows
Wedding Renewal Vows
A renewal of wedding vow occurs after a couple have either gotten
divorce and have decided to remarry or wanted to say their vows to
each other again after being married for a long time.
I.
Welcome
Friends and Family, welcome. John & Jane it is a pleasure to share
todays very special occasion with you.
Today you have chosen to reconfirm your commitment to one
another, before God and all these witnesses. You have shared with
me as your pastor the joys, blessings and yes even the challenges
of married life for _____ years. May this ceremony and renewing of
vows be a reminder to you both of your commitment here today. Let
us take this time to open in a word of prayer.
II.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, We come before you today, lifting up both John &
Jane as they reconfirm their vows.
III. Scripture Reading
1 Corinthian 13
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have
not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And
though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries
and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I
give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me
nothing.4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love
does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely,
does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not
rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.8 Love never
fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there
are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will
vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But
when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will

be done away.11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I

understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a
man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror,
dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall
know just as I also am known.13 And now abide faith, hope, love,
these three; but the greatest of these is love.
IV. Message
God has given us the example of what love means in 1 Corinthian
13. In the same way God has loved us as it says in John 3:16. For
God so love the world that He gave his one and only son and that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
V.
Vows
John, would you please repeat after me,
Jane, before God and everyone here today, I pledge to be your
husband and take you for my wife. From this day on, I want you to
be my very own; to live with me and share my life, for better or for
worse, whether richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, I will be
loyal to you. I will love you. I will protect you, and I will cherish you
all the days of my life.

VI. Blessing of Wedding Rings
May we have the rings please?
The two of you exchange rings as a pledge of your love and
commitment to each other. They are a symbol of your belonging to
one another. They are a statement to the world that you are already
chosen and spoken for and will belong to no other. Wear them with
that in mind.
John, Would you place the ring on Jane finger and repeat after me.

and loveAll my life, my heart and soul, my worldly goods I share
